Dibond is a composite sheet of plastic sandwiched between two sheets of enamel finish aluminum, in this case glossy black. It was initially developed as a cladding material for architecture. By removing linear lengths from one aluminum surface, it produces a curve that can be controlled by the width and spacing of the lines removed. Sculptures that incorporate the material rely conceptually on its black mirror finish, but also resist accurate documentation.
