The body/the whale is a sculpture of a chair. Its form references the work of Carlo Mollino, who produced objects that fully integrated his fetishes of the female body with their design and function. The sculpture is a dual character in the related video, The Ghost Ship: the "chair" plays both Ahab and the Whale, a slippery role in which violence and desire confuse the relationship between subject and object, victim and perpetrator, lover and desired.
